“90 seconds of Instagram”
A text-based scroll where images vanish, leaving only traces of words – fleeting fragments that reveal the hidden weight of our everyday attention.
Category: Mundane Acts 2024
Medium: Digital print, Video on phone
Description
“90 seconds of Instagram“ transforms the habitual act of scrolling into reflection. By presenting only textual traces of imagined Instagram posts, it interrupts the seamless flow of images and slows down what normally passes unconsciously – a swipe, a glance. Deprived of visuals, the viewer reconstructs scenes mentally, becoming aware of their own role in producing meaning. In this absence, the work reveals how digital platforms shape attention, how trivial fragments become significant, and how the invisible labor of looking structures our experience of both the ordinary and the extraordinary.
Series
Human Acts
Human Acts is an ongoing series that explores the actions shaping human life – from the small, repetitive routines of everyday existence to the larger structural forces we are entangled in. The series is organized into subcategories (Corporate, Mundane and Emotional Acts), each unfolding a different perspective of human life in modern society. Through these categories, Human Acts examines how both the grand and the mundane inscribe themselves onto the body, the mind, and the collective.
